Ron JacksonIf you are from Domain Name industry, you must have read Domain Name Journal, at least once in your domaining career. Now you must be wondering who is Ron Jackson and why he took it upon self to publish an electronic trade magazine devoted to Domain Name industry business?

Every real industry has its own professional “trade publication” and Ron felt the domain name industry was ready for one of its own. So Domain Name Journal was created and went online Jan. 1, 2003. The publication has enjoyed rapid growth since then thanks to the terrific co-operation and support Ron has received from key individuals and companies throughout the industry.

As someone who has always loved language, this industry holds a powerful fascination for Ron. Imagine – a business built entirely upon words – what more could you ask for! Though Ron had barely graduated from newbie status as a domain reseller when he began DnJournal, he did bring an extensive background in media and business creation/ownership to the table. That has helped him in gathering industry information and presenting it to everyone on a site that is a valuable industry resource.

For those who are interested, here is a brief summary of how Ron arrived at this point. After majoring in broadcast journalism he began his career as a radio news director at a small station in Ohio. Within a couple of years ron moved on to television as a news reporter with an ABC-TV affiliate in Florida. Two years after arriving there he became the station’s Sports Director when the SD moved on to a bigger market. He later moved on to a Top 20 market, doing sports for the CBS-TV station in Tampa.

After 20 years in radio/TV, Ron decided he wanted to start his own business and opened a series of record stores, an antique shop and various internet ventures. Ron bought his first domain name in 1997 and put up first site online at that time ( In early 2002 he was looking for additional names for his Internet projects when he happened to stumble upon this business. The rest is not history, but rather just the beginning of what he hopes to be a long history in this industry.

The domain name business has gone through a major shakeout with the pricking of the Internet bubble, but Ron believes this is a very exciting time. Things are changing rapidly and there are always opportunities in such an environment if you just keep your eyes open for them.

Though none of us can predict the future, one thing is for sure – there will be no shortage of news, prospects and people to talk about! Ron intends to be available at to do just that!
